JONESBORO, Ark. (2/15/18) – The third-ranked Red Wolves women’s bowling squad is set to compete in the Stephen F. Austin Stormin’ Ladyjack Classic Feb. 16-18 at Copperfield Bowl in Houston, Texas.
The 18-team tournament is stacked up with 16 of the team being ranked opponents. No. 1 Nebraska, No. 2 McKendree, No. 4 Vanderbilt, No. 5 Sam Houston State, No. 7 SFA, No. 8 Maryland-Eastern Shore, No. 9 Tulane and A-State cap off the top-10 ranked teams competing. No. 11 Adelphi will be there along with No. 13 UAB, No. 16 LIU-Brooklyn, No. 17 North Carolina A&T, No. 18 Duquesne, No. 19 Louisiana Tech, No. 20 Wisconsin-Whitewater, No. 22 Maryville with Bethune-Cookman and St. Francis College (N.Y.) being the only non-ranked teams competing in the tournament.
Day one rolls off with five, five-game Baker matches which will begin at 9:35 a.m. as the traditional matches will begin at 9:25 a.m. on day Saturday morning. The teams will then play another traditional team match on Sunday at 8:30 a.m. before three best-of-seven Baker matches in bracket format to conclude the tournament.
A-State (55-23) is set to face McKendree during the game one of Baker matches. They will also bowl against Maryville, St. Francis College (N.Y.), and Duquesne before they end the day with a match against Adelphi.
The Red Wolves finished fifth in last season’s Stormin’ Ladyjack Classic and posted an 8-5 record at the event.
