HOUSTON, Texas (2/16/18) – The third-ranked Arkansas State women’s bowling team finished in seventh place, but tallied a 3-2 record, to end day one of the Stormin’ Ladyjack Classic being held in Houston, Texas at Copperfield Bowl.

In five, five-game Baker matches, the Red Wolves took an early lost to No. 2 McKendree (986-888) before rolling past No. 22 Maryville in game two, 1,048-899. The squad won game three against St. Francis College-Brooklyn (932-838) and then fell to No. 18 Duquesne 976-921. In their final Baker match of the day, the Red Wolves beat No. 11 Adelphi 1,038-895, leaving them at 3-2 for the day.

A-State finished in seventh place with a total pinfall of 4,827 and an average of 193.1. McKendree and Nebraska were the only teams to end the day unbeaten, with McKendree being atop as they had 5,277 total pins with Nebraska in second with 5,050 total pins. Vanderbilt (5,004), Maryland Eastern Shore (4,941) and Wisconsin-Whitewater (4,845) closed out as the top five teams.

Day two rolls off at 9:25 a.m. with five games of traditional matches as the Red Wolves (58-25) are facing Tulane in game one and Long Island – Brooklyn in game two. The squad will then face Wisconsin-Whitewater, Maryland Eastern Shore and UAB to complete day two
