HOUSTON, Texas (2/17/18) - The third-ranked Arkansas State women’s bowling team went 4-1, ending day two of the Stormin’ Ladyjack Classic in fourth place as they competed at Copperfield Bowl in Houston, Texas.
Day two consisted of five games of traditional matches, as the Red Wolves surpassed 1,000 total pinfalls in two of those contests. The squad started the day with two victories, first a 989-961 win over No. 9 Tulane followed by a 944-941 win over No. 16 Long Island-Brooklyn.
The Red Wolves proceeded to beat No. 20 Wisconsin-Whitewater 1,032-1,002 before taking their sole loss of the night to No. 8 Maryland-Eastern Shore, 945-929. During their final match, Jordan Richards led the way with an impressive 269 as the squad bowled their highest of the night with a 1,157-940 victory over No. 13 UAB.
A-State finished the day at 4-1, posting a total pinfall of 9,878 which pushed them up three spots into fourth place to cap the day. McKendree (10,555), Nebraska (10,424), SFA (9,929) and fifth place Vandy (9,848) close off as the top five teams. Jordan Richard ended in 11th place in individual standings with a sum total of 1,045, bowling an average of 209 per game.
The Red Wolves (62-26) will face SFA tomorrow during the first round of championship matches, which is set to roll off at 8:30 a.m.
