TULSA, Okla. (9/25/17) – The Arkansas State women’s golf team shot a combined 606 Monday at the Mark Allen ORU Shootout, ending the two-day tournament’s opening two rounds in fourth place among 17 teams.

The Red Wolves ended the first round in second place after posting a 299, but dropped two places in the standings after tacking eight strokes onto that total for the second 18 holes.  A-State is just two strokes behind third-place UTEP, trails second-place Lamar by three and is within six strokes of leader Oral Roberts.

Arkansas State was led by three players ending the day among the top-20 individual leaders, including Beth Ann Compton in a tie for eighth place.  The junior carded a 74 and 73 for the first and second rounds, respectively, giving her a 36-hole 147.

Following Compton for the Red Wolves, Emma Miller began play with a 74 and followed with a 77, placing her tied for 15th with a combined 151.  Sarah Childers is currently tied for 19th place with a 152, which included a first-round 75 and second-round 77.

Also competing for the Red Wolves, Aracelly Jimenez Rios is tied 49th place with a 157 (76-81) and Grayson Gladden tied for 62nd with a 159 (79-80).  Maria Jose Atristain Vega is playing as an individual and is tied for 55th place with a 159 (76-83).

The ORU Shootout will conclude Tuesday with the third-and-final round.
