HOT SPRINGS VILLAGE, Ark. (10/29/17) – Sarah Childers completed the Little Rock Golf Classic’s opening round Sunday tied for third place to lead Arkansas State, which stands in 12th place among 15 teams after posting a 308 at the Diamante Golf Club.

Childers, a senior, carded a 72 to match her lowest single-round score of the season and was joined among the top-10 individual leaders by junior Aracelly Jimenez Rios, who is tied for seventh place after shooting a 73.

While the Red Wolves stand 12th, they are just two strokes behind a pair of teams tied for 10th and within seven of Jacksonville State and Missouri State, which are tied for second. Sam Houston State currently leads the field with a first-round 298.

Also competing with scores counting toward the team total are Kirsten Garner, Marisa Marquez and Beth Ann Compton. Garner is tied for 65th place with an 81, Marquez tied for 70th with an 82 and Compton tied for 72nd with an 84.

Playing as individuals for the Red Wolves, Grayson Gladden is tied for 42nd place with a 78, Emma Miller tied for 49th with a 79 and Monica Lieving tied for 74th with an 85.

The 54-hole tournament will continue Monday with the second round.
