ASU?s Baumgartner and Ferguson Named To All-Arkansas Collegiate Team By Natural State Baseball

JONESBORO, Ark., (6/8/11) - Arkansas State senior Todd Baumgartner and Andy Ferguson were named to the All-Arkansas Collegiate Team by Natural State Baseball announced Wednesday.

The team is comprised of the top collegiate players across all levels in the state of Arkansas. The team consists of eight position players, a designated hitter and seven pitchers.

Baumgartner, who was named as an outfielder led ASU with a .340 batting average, 83 hits, 56 runs scored, 18 doubles, nine home runs and 42 RBI while breaking A-State career records in hits, doubles, total bases and RBI. Baumgartner was an All-Sun Belt Conference selection and won the 2011 Sun Belt Conference home run derby.

Ferguson was selected as a pitcher to the All-Arkansas squad and started in 14 games on the hill for ASU including a complete-game shutout over Louisiana-Lafayette at the Sun Belt Conference Tournament. Ferguson struck out a league-high 14 batters against Middle Tennessee and struck out 11 against the ULL at the SBC Tournament in the most dominating performance at the tournament which earned him All-Tournament honors. Ferguson had two complete game wins for A-State this past season, which was a team high and led ASU with 80 strikeouts. He posted a 3.57 ERA with a 7-4 record in 88.1 innings pitched.

Ferguson was drafted with the fifth pick in the 18th round by the Kansas City Royals in the 2011 Major League Baseball First-Year Player Draft on Tuesday. Ferguson was the 546th overall pick in the draft
