ASU Releases 2011 Fall Soccer Schedule

JONESBORO, Ark., (6/23/11) – Arkansas State head soccer coach Tafadzwa Ziyenge has announced the 2011 fall competition schedule for the Red Wolves including 10 home games at the ASU Soccer Park.

“We expect every non conference opponent to present a challenge similar to the teams we will face in the tough Sun Belt conference,” said ASU head coach Tafadzwa Ziyenge. “The exciting mix of newcomers and returners should hopefully give us a season to remember.”

The Red Wolves play an exhibition game at Alabama-Birmingham on August 13 before traveling to Lipscomb for their season opener on Aug. 19. ASU opens its home schedule hosting Mississippi State on Aug. 21 before going on a three-game road trip to Central Arkansas, Southeast Missouri State and Tennessee-Martin on Aug., 26 & 28 and Sept. 2, respectively.

ASU then spends most of the month of September hosting a five-game home stand at the ASU Soccer Park. The Red Wolves begin their home stand against Arkansas-Pine Bluff on Sept. 4 followed by Murray State on Sept. 11 and Belmont on Sept. 16.

The Red Wolves open their Sun Belt slate hosting Florida Atlantic on Sept. 23 and wrap up their five-game stand on Sept. 25 hosting Florida International.

A trip to Middle Tennessee and Western Kentucky are up next for A-State on Sept. 30 and Oct. 2 before the team returns home to face Louisiana Lafayette on Oct. 7 and Louisiana-Monroe on Oct. 9. ASU then goes on the road for three in a row travelling to South Alabama and Troy, Oct. 14 and 16 and to Denver on Oct. 20 before returning home to face North Texas on Oct. 23.

The Red Wolves host instate rival UALR in their final contest of the 2011 season on Oct. 29 before traveling to Murfreesboro for the 2011 Sun Belt Soccer Championship hosted by MTSU on Nov. 2-5.
